The Decree to promote the development of Renewable Energy Communities has been published on the website of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security.

The regulation provides a non-repayable grant of up to 40% of eligible costs for municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants, financed with 2.2 billion from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), to create communities with renewable energy facilities and energy storage systems, to promote the development of 2 GW.

The decree also introduces an incentive tariff on renewable energy produced and shared throughout the national territory. Two cumulative aid modalities aimed at promoting the development of a total of 5 GW of renewable energy production facilities.
