On March 14th, the European Parliament approved the "Green Homes Directive" - a revision of the EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) aimed at improving the energy performance of buildings.

This measure aims to increase the rate of building renovations, reduce energy consumption and emissions by 2030, and achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

Solar installations will become mandatory for all buildings: starting from the transposition of the directive, new public and non-residential buildings will be required to have solar installations, while residential buildings undergoing significant renovations must comply by 2032.

Heating systems using fossil fuels will be banned from 2035. This measure will also affect building incentives, as European Union member states will no longer provide incentives for the installation of individual boilers that use fossil fuels.
